Museo Alberto Ruz Lhuillier: Incense burner stand
Late Classic (600-900 AD)
600-900 AD
Comments: The burning of incense was an essential part of most Ma-
ya rituals. Numerous incense burners have been found near the Cross
Temple. These clay cylinders were placed on terraces and platforms,
and bowls bearing incense and other sacrificial gifts were laid on top.
